4.7. Sample Implementation: Apple iPhone Interface
Note: This download is no longer required, HelpSpot includes a dedicated iPhone UI as of version 2.6.0. This page remains in the manual as a reference for using javascript to interact with the Web Service API.
The files linked below allow you to add a special interface for using an Apple iPhone with HelpSpot in a user interface specifically designed for the Apple iPhone. These files use HelpSpot's web services API to create the interface and are also useful as an example implementation of the HelpSpot web service API.

Features
- Access to the Inbox, My Queue, and all filters

Installation
Note, HelpSpot 2.1.1 or higher required.
- Download the files below
- Create a folder in the root HelpSpot folder (where config.php is located). This folder can be named anything you like. show example
- Upload the files into the folder
- In "Admin->Settings->Web Services API" enable the public and private API's
- Visit the folder in your iPhone and login
About Request Updates
The iPhone interface currently only allows for public updates to requests, category assignemnt, and staff assignment. This is primarily to keep the forms simple. This could be expanded an may be in a future release. If you do need to access more request details there's a link to the full HelpSpot UI at the bottom of the update form. This will work in mobile Safari.
Potential Problems
- Installations that have required custom fields will not be able to answer new requests as there's no way to set those fields.
